PhD Networking Seminar 2018: Transition from PhD to postdoc

PhD-students in Denmark from all universities and fields of study are invited to a one-day seminar about career planning and the transition from PhD to postdoc.

When: Monday September 10th, 2018 at 8:30-15:15
Where: Richard Mortensen Stuen, Stakladen, Aarhus Universitet, Frederik Nielsens Vej 2-4, DK-8000 Aarhus C

About the initiative
The seminar is organized by the Det Unge Akademi (The Young Academy) who would like to share our experience as junior researchers with PhD-students in an interdisciplinary forum. We have arranged similar seminars the past several years and it is our impression that many PhD-students can benefit from events organized outside of their PhD-schools that focus on career advice across different disciplines.

About the seminar
At the seminar, a number of prominent people from research foundations and the research councils will discuss the prioritization of postdoc funding and career opportunities as a postdoc either in Denmark or abroad. Furthermore, several junior researchers will share their own experiences with their transition from PhD to postdoc and their corresponding thoughts about career planning and opportunities.

The seminar will take place in English to welcome international as well as Danish students; note however that the seminar will focus on funding opportunities in Denmark.

About Det Unge Akademi (The Young Academy)
Det Unge Akademi (The Young Academy) is an independent unit within The Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters. It was initiated in 2011 as a new scientific forum for young, talented researchers in Denmark. The Academy operates across scientific fields and is concerned with research politics, communication of research to a broad audience, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Participation is free of charge but registration is required. The maximum number of participants is 80 on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration is open until September 1st.
